I am a multi-skilled, reliable and duty conscious translator with a proven ability to translate written documents from English to French. I am also a quick learner capable of acquiring new ideas and communicate clearly and effectively with people from all professional and cultural backgrounds. Diversity is an issue that cannot be overlooked in our today civilization and that’s why I am getting more and more aware of it to be able to enjoy mankind potential. EDUCATION BACKGROUND: 2015 – 2020: Master of Arts in Translation from the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI), University of Buea in Cameroon 2010 – 2013: Bachelor degree in Bilingual Studies (French and English) from the University of Douala in Cameroon. 2009 – 2010: Baccalauréat A4 Lettres Philosophie et Langue vivante II from La Maturité Modern Bilingual High School OTHER TRAINING: December 2023 – June 2024: Training certificate on digital communication trades from the MK Digital School with digital marketing, graphic design, web design, ecommerce and Community Management as main courses. Work History Productive PlayHouse From January 2023 to date: I provide translation and transcription services in this company as a freelance worker. Most of the time, the job involves transcribing and translating videos to be put on digital platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Work is done on a platform designed by the client and all workers are trained on how to use a platform every time a new one is created. Unfortunately, I will not include projects completed with this company on this CV since I don’t yet have the right. Translation Back Office From July 2021 till date I provide translation and post-editing services in this translation firm mainly into Canadian French which seems to be the only variant of French they translate into. So far we have already collaborated on many projects mainly in the fields of health care, administration and marketing. In August 2021, I reviewed a document of about 12 000 words with this translation firm. The aim was just to check whether the medical terminology was appropriately used as indicated in the job instructions. Then in November, I translated another document of more than 5 000 words about wellbeing at workplace. Recently in January, I completed another translation project of about 50000 words. This was a post-editing project in the field of marketing OneForma By Centific in the USA From February 2021 to date: Every month, I translate series of sentences within the framework of a translation project that seeks to develop artificial intelligence and improve machine translation. Those strings are mostly related to politics, eLearning, short messages among friends, marketing, e-Commerce and a lot more. Since February 2021, I have already translated more than 220 000 words. Recently, in August, still at OneForma By Centific, I worked on a specific translation project in the medical domain. I did 9 000 words. I have also worked on annotation, transcription and data collection projects with this company. GTS in Cameroon January 2020 to January 2021: Translation of documents of all kinds from Huawei Technologies into French (12 000 words). Translation of a document entitled “Contactless Fulfillment: Food lockers Reimagined”, into Canadian French (20 000 words). Translation of the book titled “Happy Home” by Elizabeth Fon into standard French. This book addresses the issue of personal wellness, mental health, emotional intelligence, family therapy and living together. I did a total of 60 000 words. Translation, in November 2020, of a paper titled “How COVID-19 global pandemic affected marine turtle conservation on research in Ebodje, Cameroon” by Abi Henry Nibam, vice-president of the Awu Tube Association, a non-profit organization that works jointly with the Marine Conservation Action Funds (5 000 words). APPEN in Australia Independent contractor as from April 2019 Appen is a company that provides or improves data used for the development of machine learning and artificial intelligence products. Data types include speech and natural language data, image and video data, text and alphanumeric data and relevance data to improve search and social media engines. Although I am mainly interested in speech and natural language data, I also used to deliver other services like ads assessment, annotation and data collection. I have participated in several projects but unfortunately I cannot tell more about because of the NDA we signed that prohibits me to say what so ever even after the termination of our contract. EUNAD in Cameroon Remote on call translator as from March 2019: Translation of EUNAD (Excellency Union Networks for Africa’s Development) handbook into standard French (12 000 words). Translation of the work report between EUNAD and L’école communautaire citoyenne, a nonprofit based in Quebec into Canadian French. (10 000 words) Translation into French of many other administrative documents for EUNAD, such as memorandums, call for donors, scholarship applications. Collaboration with Mentors Volunteer translator at Mercy Ships under the supervision of Kiampi Hervé Joel who is now a senior translator at the Cameroon’s National Assembly. It was mainly medical translation about various types of diseases and pathologies. I translated about 40 000 words for that nonprofit in 2018. Translation of a report titled: Quick assessment of human rights/inclusive conversation and FPIC mainstreaming in new biodiversity conservation strategy for WWF in Canadian French under the management of Sabgue Gael, freelance translator as well (60 000 words) in May 2018. Member of the team of translators, coordinated by Tenkeu Daline Germain, that did machine translation post editing of products sold on amazon. The aim of the project was to make products user instructions understandable for French speaking clients. I did over 500 000 words in that project between July and November 2018. CAMEROON’S PRIME MINISTER OFFICE Six weeks long internship in translation between August and September 2016 During that internship, I translated a variety of documents like Bills of law, Financial reports from the IMF, the World Bank, documents related to decentralization policy in Cameroon, some Cameroon’s local governments petitions to the Prime minister in standard French. I translated about 45 000 words during that internship. Checking concordance with tools like Antconc and Paraconc. This ensures that the final text is written idiomatically. Transcription Capable of providing transcriptions with full and corrected verbatim and time coding in both French and English. Graphic design I can use Adobe Photoshop to design digital communication materials like fliers, banners, visit cards, leaflets etc Copywriting I know exactly how to address any target audience depending on my client’s goals. CAT TOOLS Proficient in any version of SDL Trados and Wordfast. I can also effectively use Memosource, MEMSOURCE, Smartling. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
