More than 30 years of experience in German<>English translation and localization, as well as author of books and handbooks on Computer-related technology English native speaker. Many years in Australia, England, and United States. Residence in Germany, on and off, for 25 years. Recently returned form 10 years in the USA (Austin, Texas) Translation/Localization Wide range of experience, primarily in technical fields. My chief area of expertise is in IT/Computer related technology. Professional translator and localizer since 1982. This includes: In England (1982): Translation for Siemens, Kienzle, as well as translation/localization of software and user interface for number of software houses (Richard Shepard Software, Tansoft, and other developers of early, especially game-related, home-computer software). Translation for the IEA on coal research. Former member of English Translators Guild. In Germany (1986): Translation/Localization for the Hofacker Verlag. Translation and localization of manuals, handbooks, PC-related technical data, as well as authoring several books on PageMaker and CorelDraw. Also, freelance work for numerous companies including Siemens, Bosh, BMW, and Mercedes. From 1993 to 1999 in charge of translation/localization for RVS-COM which developed the internationally very sucessful "RVS-COM for Windows" communications software suite. Best of Byte award at the 1996 CeBIT in Hannover for best English language localization. Since 1999 work for idv Datentechnik translating/writing and localizing the statistics software program TESTIMATE. After 2000, a ten-year stint in Austin, Texas, working internationally from my home office for a wide range of companies, including idv Datentechnik, Siemens, Motorola, General Electric, and others. Most of my work is now carrried out online using file transfer (secure, encrytped if desired) and telephone/video conferencing. Member of AATIA (Austin Area Translators and Interpreter Association).
