I am an english woman and have been living in Spain for the past 19 years. I started off here working as an English teacher teaching children and then adults Eglish as a foreign language. During that time, I taught medical students and sometimes did translations for them to supplement my income. After 15 years of teaching I decided to change professions and did a gardening course in Spanish. Since then I have worked in gardening and have continued to supplement my income with translation work. I have a degree in English literature and theatre and French. I also have a diploma in Spanish which I got during a secretarial course in the 1970's. Since arriving in Spain, Catalunya I have completed a Masters Degree in Women's Studies at Barcelona University, department of philosophy, which I wrote in Catillian Spanish, although the majority of the classes were given in Catalan. Altough I have no formal eduation as a translator, I consider my self fluent in both spoken and written Spanish and prepared to take on more translation work. The area in which I could best offer my services would be conversational, day to day Spanish, business Spanish and medical Spanish, since my spouse is an anaesthetist and I have done some medical translation work. | |
