Emily graduated from the University of Bath in 2002 having studied French & Italian of which one year was spent living in Florence, Italy. During this time she studied Italian at the British Institute of Florence.

Whilst studying for her degree, Emily completed a 10 000 word dissertation in Italian entitled 'The Effects of Tourism on the City of Florence'.

The University course itself included modules covering the translation of documents/articles related to French/Italian history & politics, drama and modern/classic literature, as well as alternative narrative. From a cultural perspective, Emily studied modules in French Surrealism and French theatre. All types of language 'register' were covered. European studies was in addition to language study, covering aspects of modern European history and International Relations.

Due to her Mother Tongue being English, of particular interest are translations into this language.

After finishing a period of study in Florence itself, Emily worked for Haven Europe near La Rochelle, France as a French speaking supervisor at a holiday camp. This involved the management of both French & English speaking employees.

Post University Emily has worked as a (French) Bilingual PA whilst working at Airbus. This involved much communication with fellow employees and suppliers in Toulouse, France.
A secondary transition to Rolls-Royce Defence Aerospace as an (Italian/French) Bilingual Programme Lead then followed.

Emily now works in construction as a planner, on medium to large scale projects, again for an international company.
